Irretrievable

Irretrievable the memories I have stowed away,
in darkest corners of my soul they reside.
Too painful to see the light of day,
too shattering to once again feel.
Irretrievable the love I once gave,
in blood I lost a part of me.
Too devastating to realise in consciousness,
and too destructive to experience again.
Irretrievable the sadness that each day brings,
when loss is ever-present in my heart.
Too open the wounds unhealed,
and too disappointed the betrayal of commitment.
Irretrievable the self-preservation of which I’ve clung,
in hope of finding peace and a tranquil end.
Too excruciating this mortal life,
and too harsh the people within it.
Irretrievable my hearts disdain,
lost in the dark shadow of my soul.
Too negative to surface into life,
too wrong my response.
Retrievable my life, as dark as it’s been,
from the complexities of living in awareness.
Too glorious to wipe clean from existence,
and too profound to not push on through the turmoil.

Too intense, too dark - The way it was intended to be. Feelings like this are scary enough to raise goosebumps, they are more effective than horror... such dark hopelessness...
Apt pictures too, well this successfully caused goosebumps :)
I like the desolate atmosphere you create and then your upheaval of that desperation in the final stanza. It's very dramatic and thought-provoking.
