How Devastating the Ego
By Tony DeLorger © 2011
How repellent the sour words of rejection,
the affront of self-questioning,
the realisation that we are imperfect,
and worse seen as so.
How seductive the words of flattery,
the stroking of self-adoration,
and worse the belief in it.
How deluded our ways of life,
seen through limited eyes,
and governed by fears,
the shaping of veiled truth.
How closed we are to ourselves,
egos like crystal glass, fragile and vulnerable,
unknown to our deepest wishes,
our souls stirring.
How moved we are by love,
the realisation that sacrifice is selflessness,
striving for oneness and disregarding self,
is for a higher ideal.
How inspired we can be in our potential,
to hold love and to share the miracle of life,
for thoughts above the mundane,
and the happiness that love affords.
How devastating the ego, the ignorance of self.

I thought this was wonderful. Loved the vocabulary you used to describe our fragile selves.
There is a huge difference between believing in yourself and beleiving yourself. The first leads to success the second leads to disaster. Good hub!

I voted you up because i don't agree... but seeing the phsycology of weakness is appealing to the mah's law of transcendence, i handle it like a smart ass though, you either get me as a smart ass that could be a role model if you just stop being a "adult baby" (look THAT up on Jezebel.com) and just be real... the ego is the reality, your poem deals with how the evil id that hates us and wants to destroy us causes us to faulter... look for you superego to be your spirit guide, the physcie that knows that people have significance, just BEING is significant... and feeling is significant, that's why the ID has power, it knows how to make individuals feel less to strick a spiritual dagger into the hearts of others, only strength is real, and it is super, knowing that the self is not what's relevant outside of the self, what is relevant outside of our own perception is what is 'the right' and we can't be it, but we do want to... and the only way to be close enough to achieve 'the right' is simply to just align yourself with it, always 'be' wrong and correct yourself when you see that 'the right' aligns with another, and you become in 'the right' through submsission, and only stay in it if you see that they need to stay in 'the right' along side you...
please read my hubpage called "Maticore" and "Whats sIo Different" they are why i kick ass!!!
