A Sad Friend
By Tony DeLorger © 2011
Foolish of me for doubting your word,
your simplistic vision of right quite absurd.
Driven by a suspect and fractious past,
I knew that your questionable sight would not last.
Embodied of pain and the biases meant
to alleviate the welling of emotions now spent.
Your spite and your blame have full-circled your being,
and enabled the arrogance and righteous stance you have gleaned.
Your blind self-deceit has in manner concealed,
all the ironies and mistakes your self-esteem cannot yield.
But pretention and bluster can no longer sustain,
the truth of what’s really going on in your brain.
You’re damaged you’re hurting and throwing around blame,
to deflect all the truth of inner conflict and pain.
Instead of berating an innocent world,
perhaps its now time to admit your a girl.
A child not grown who’s in fear of her past,
has held on to oppression and mistreatment to last.
Until the bravado of a women not at peace,
finds comfort in resolution and can finally find sleep.
Without the cast shadow of the wrongs in our life,
we can surely find happiness and blameless strife.
But imagining that shadows don’t lurk in our minds,
is fooling ourselves and darkness just binds.
Life is about now, and then looking forward.
